Handmade Winter Wear Drive

CALLING ALL KNITTERS! CROCHETERS! CRAFTERS OF THE FIBER ARTS 

BFC Cares is looking to show a little extra care this holiday season in the form of hand-made warm winter hats, mittens, neck gaiters and more to hand out along with the December 2025 Co-op cooked holiday meals that are handed out to people in need.

We are looking to collect at least one hundred hand-made items, but the more the better (extras can be handed out at a later time if we have them). They should be unused, never worn items—not discarded or second-hand please. 

Simple, sweet, warm and durable are the main goals here; we want to include as many skill levels as possible. If you feel inclined to make it a little more complex, go for it! If that’s not your thing yet, amazing! We’ll take ’em all!

Guidelines:

• Items must be handmade, unused, and never worn.
• Simple and durable is great—any skill level welcome.
• Make as many as you like; our goal is 100+ items.

What to Make: 

(these are just our ideas, you can make other items as well)

• Hats/beanies
• Mittens or thumbless hand-warmers
• Neck gaiters/neck warmers 
• Balaclavas
• Headbands
• Leg warmers

Knit, crochet, sewn, quilted, fleece, wool, cotton—we love it all.

• Shareholders can get work-hours credit for time/materials. Report at:

• Drop off: there will be a special drop box near the Customer Service desk
• Deadline: Sunday, December 22 by 8pm
