Shareholder Donations and Food For All Discounts:
Food for All members will receive up to 17.5% of purchases in February 2025.
At the BFC, shareholders who volunteer two hours per month at the Co-op or one of our Commitment to Community Partners earn a 5% discount off their purchases at the Co-op during the following month. Many generous shareholders choose to donate their earned hours/discounts to a larger pool. This pool is offered to other shareholders in need who may not otherwise be able to access them.
As of the close of 2024, our shared pool has accumulated 536 volunteer hours! We are thrilled to announce that these discounts will be shared with our Food For All (FFA) program participants throughout the entire month of February. We are proud to be able to offer this enhanced benefit made possible by the generosity of working shareholders, who have donated their time and earned discounts to support those in need within our community.
For all of February 2025, all Food For All members will receive an additional 2.5% on eligible purchases*. This will be added to the 10% discount FFA members receive regularly, giving them a 12.5% discount.
Likewise, those FFA members who already volunteer regularly (and receive 15% off eligible purchases*) will also benefit from this generous offer, bringing their discounts in February to 17.5%.
We are deeply grateful to our working shareholders, whose selflessness makes this opportunity possible. Their contributions, both of time and earned discounts, help us provide meaningful support to those who need it most.
We will assess the donated hours balance annually to determine if additional discounts can be offered to FFA members.
And, to further assist our shareholders in need, we will automatically apply our Shareholder Assistance Fund to new FFA memberships going forward. This will allow new FFA members to become shareholders at the reduced rate of $20 instead of the full $80 share rate. Our hope is that this will make discounts more accessible to those who need them the most.
