At the Co-op, we take great pride in offering seafood you can feel good about. Our fresh and frozen selections are sourced from responsible fisheries and farms worldwide, harvested and handled with care to ensure both quality and sustainability.

Every supplier we work with is regulated, monitored, and often inspected without notice by U.S. agencies to ensure high standards for food safety and environmental responsibility. Because the sustainability of many species depends on season and origin, our offerings shift thoughtfully throughout the year.

Whenever possible, we feature regionally sourced seafood from Massachusetts and Maine, with deliveries from coastal towns like Boston, New Bedford, Gloucester, and Fall River. Our fish are sourced through line-caught or net-caught methods, and shellfish, such as oysters and mussels, are farm-raised in clean, well-managed waters.

And there’s more to love: tinned fish is making big waves, and we’re here for it. Look for flavorful varieties from Siesta, Matiz, Fishwife, and others—perfect for picnics, snacks, or pairing with a crusty baguette and a glass of wine.

At the fresh seafood counter, you’ll find Susie Lucier, who has managed the department since 2012. She leads a stellar crew—Kylie, Prema, and support from the Meat Department—keeping the case full and the quality top-notch.

“Fish is a very difficult commodity,” Susie says. “Prices change daily, but I work closely with our producers to get the best fish at the best value. Freshness and responsible sourcing are king. We’re happy to take special orders on oysters, salmon—whatever we can track down for you.”

We receive fresh deliveries six days a week (Monday through Saturday) and offer a wide selection of frozen seafood, including salmon burgers, fish cakes, and ready-to-cook meals for easy dinners at home.

Our best seller? Faroe Island salmon from Iceland and Denmark. Caught, processed, and delivered within 48 hours of harvest, it’s consistently one of the freshest fish in the case.

Susie is proud of how the Seafood Department has grown over the years. She credits its success to the team’s dedication, her high standards for sourcing, and (with a smile) her winning personality.

We also offer a rotating selection of seasonal standouts, including soft-shell crabs, shad roe, bluefish, striped bass, and other regional favorites that shine during the warmer months.

As summer heats up and grills get going, stop by the counter for the freshest catch, helpful advice, and custom seafood orders—we’re ready when you are.
