January Recipient of Round Up for Change is SUSU CommUNITY Farm
The SUSU commUNITY Farm is a Black and Indigenous stewarded farm and land based healing center in Southern Vermont that elevates Vermont’s land and foodways.
This organization is currently raising funds to support the purchase of farmland that will held in perpetuity for the BIPOC community in Vermont, working capital to cover the costs of building, renovation, planning professionals, meeting regulations and safety requirements, legal and other fees associated with this project, farming and other equipment needed to start and sustain a farm and educational healing center; seeds, tools, boxes, and other necessities for our free BIPOC CSA’s, funding for salaries, program development, certifications, etc…. all that goes into this project.

Round Up funds will be spent to support SUSU’s FREE BIPOC CSA program and their storytelling gardens/educational programming which connects BIPOC, and youth in Vermont, to foodways.
Sowing seeds of liberation in Vermont. Offering life affirming spaces for Black, Indigenous, People of color to THRIVE.
As part of their Box of Resilience program SUSU will offer Food as liberation classes where members gather each week to cook and prepare meals together for the week, connect back with our afro-indigenous food ways, and learn how to heal our bodies and the earth through food. The farm will also have weekly rituals during the growing season that members are welcome to participate in, classes may include:
Food/Cooking:
Fermenting 101, Soup Making, Sun charged tomatoes, Salsa Magick, and Rice & beans of the diaspora.
Medicinal:
Tinctures, Salves, Herbal Remedies, First Aid Kits, and Self Care Kits
Harvesting Rituals, Seed Planting Rituals, Veggie Spiritual Baths, and Invocation
