Looking Forward

We closed out the 2023-24 Board term-year with our Annual Shareholder Meeting on September 21. This year, with an eye to community impact, we celebrated our Commitment to Community (C2C) partnerships, and the impact our Shareholders have on supporting the many beneficial organizations in and around Brattleboro. The feedback that the Co-op has received following the event has been pretty stellar. Our Shareholders and C2C partners tell us they loved the opportunity to learn more about each other, interact, network and volunteer. Building and strengthening our community is a group effort and the Brattleboro Food Co-op is proud to be one part of those efforts.

With the Annual Meeting comes election season. The BFC Board of Directors is an ever-evolving body of individuals, passions and perspectives. Some you will jive with, some you might not. This is representative democracy! This year, we said goodbye to our long-time Board President, Jerelyn Wilson and Vice President, Judy Fink. Additionally, the Board is pleased to welcome Johanna Zalneraitis (incumbent) and Kevin Brennan who joined us following the elections; as well as Lee Halpern and Sheena Tesch, who were appointed by the Board to fill the two remaining open seats. We now have a full Board moving into the 2024-25 term-year.

Our Co-op will be celebrating its 50th Birthday in 2025 and we couldn’t be more excited. Starting as a buying club, our Co-op has evolved and grown, along with everything else, over those 50 years, to better serve our Shareholders. Keep your eyes on the Co-op calendar, as our staff have scheduled special events throughout the year!
