The Annual Meeting of the Brattleboro Food Co-op’s Shareholders took place on  November 10th, 2021 via Zoom.

    The Annual Shareholder Meeting of the Brattleboro Food Co-op, Brattleboro, VT, was held via Zoom on November 10, 2021. The meeting was held virtually as a safe option to gather during the Covid-19 pandemic.

    150 shareholders registered for the event. 104 people attended the meeting which comprised the Board of Directors, Shareholders, Employee Shareholders, Facilitators, and invited Panelists. The Facilitator, Nadav Malin, streamlined the meeting advising questions and comments be placed in Zoom’s “chat” feature.”

    A Panel Discussion, led by Tabitha Pohl-Moore, spoke about diversity, equity, and inclusion and is an important focus for the Co-op going forward. The panel consisted of BIPOC entrepreneurs, Amber Arnold, Co-Director of the SUSU CommUNITY Farm in Brattleboro VT; Marlena Fishman, co-owner of Zen Barn Farms boutique cannabis shop and director of Zen Barn Farms Social and Environmental Justice Initiatives, Waterbury Center, VT; and Earl Ransom, co-owner of Strafford Organic Creamery, Strafford, VT, was scheduled to attend but was unable to join the panel.

    Annual voting commenced at the conclusion of the meeting. On the ballot, for Shareholders to vote on were bylaw amendments and seven Board of Directors candidates to fill open seats on the Board.

    All Shareholders are invited to and participate in this annual event and encouraged to also attend and participate in the monthly Board of Directors meetings.

    The Board meets each month on the first Monday, with a few exceptions including holidays (in which case the meeting takes place the following Monday), and the Annual Shareholder Meeting takes the place of the November BOD meeting.
