Groundworks—a dynamic organization committed to providing shelter, food and supportive services with dignity—is hiring a senior leader to oversee its two shelters; each operating 24/7 and serving roughly 250individuals each year in the Brattleboro, Vermont area. We are seeking a seasoned leader with an extensive track record in enhancing systems, continuous improvement, and excellence in programmatic, operational and people leadership.Reporting directly to the Executive Director, this new position will have the creative opportunity to enhance services and systems to create programmatic and operational excellence. As the senior clinically trained staff member, the Director of Shelters will implement high service delivery standards, support clients and ensure that all services are provided with non judgment and compassion. As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, this position will also provide agency-wide leadership and maximize impact by enabling seamless integration between Groundworks’ programs and services—contributing to Groundworks’ culture as a great place to work.

POSITION OVERVIEW
The Director of Shelters will achieve programmatic and operational excellence through:
● Direct supervision of two Shelter Coordinators and indirect supervision of roughly 20 staff
● Fostering a welcoming culture and excellent customer service
● Facilitating program planning, evaluation, and continuous improvement as needs emerge
● Enhancing systems to improve organizational efficiency, effectiveness and impact
● Creating an exceptional workplace that promotes collaboration, ownership and leadership
● Provide staff and volunteer training to enhance skills and performance
● Ensuring shelters comply with all funder and local regulations
● Contributing to Groundworks’ agency-wide success and organizational learning
● Cultivation of partnerships to enhance client access to services throughout the community

KEY DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
● Masters in social work, public administration, business or human services related field
● Five or more years of senior nonprofit administrative, homeless services or housing experience
● Significant experience in supervising staff, team building and creating a great place to work
● Experience working with substance abuse, mental illness, and individuals with trauma histories
● Experience in managing/enhancing programs, systems building, planning, grants management
● Significant experience working with low income and diverse populations
● Experience in training staff in crisis intervention and a range of issues relating to homelessness
● Strong knowledge of community resources and experience in navigating services
● Passion for Groundworks’ mission, philosophy and nonjudgmental, compassionate approach
The salary range for this position is $65,000 – $80,000, moreover, we are proud to offer benefits valued at

$19,000/year. This is a full-time & exempt position located on-site.
