All,

It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I must announce that at the end of June I will be unable to continue my current role and responsibilities as General Manager of our beloved co-op. This decision is strictly for personal reasons. This is an extremely difficult decision for me to make, but it’s what I must do in light of some things that have come to pass in my personal life. I will stay on as long as feasible in support of the new GM search and even the transition if that is what the board wants/needs. But please know that at some point for the good of myself and my family, I will have to step away.

Please know, this was never the plan. The past two years with the Co-op have been everything I had hoped it would be. Great people to work with, an informed and vocal membership, and a prominent platform for community involvement and change.  My hope is that, between now and June, we continue to operate with the same courage and compassion that we have been.  I’m so sorry to have to leave this place. Thank you so much for all your hard work past, present, and in the future.  It has been and will continue to be an honor to serve you and our co-op for the next few months. I have no doubt that we can and will do what needs to be done to make sure we’re thriving for many years to come.

As I start to relinquish my responsibilities in preparation for my departure on June 27th, I want to convey my strong support for the management team and current employees of our Co-op. They are all great at what they do and show extreme pride in their roles and responsibilities. I have the utmost confidence in all of them, and don’t see the Co-op missing a beat in our day-to-day efforts to support our community. Even as we navigate a period of significant transition I believe wholeheartedly in the strength and resilience of this organization. These changes, though difficult, come at a time when many communities across the country are experiencing similar shifts and uncertainty. Yet in that, there is also opportunity: space for fresh ideas, renewed energy, and deeper alignment with our mission. Our co-op has always been a cornerstone of downtown Brattleboro, providing the best, freshest local products with the best customer service—and that will not change. I remain hopeful and excited for what’s to come, and I know this community has what it takes to carry our co-op forward into its next inspiring chapter.

Thank you so much for your continued support and engagement,

Anthony Santorelli
