Co-ops Change the World: An inspiring and educational speaker series
May 12, 2022 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Free
We’re proud to introduce this new co-op speaker series, Co-ops Change the World.
The cooperative business model is a key solution in creating a more democratic and egalitarian global society. Join us to learn more, get inspired by what co-ops have brought to our collective table, and dream about the better world they will help us create.
On Thursday, May 12 at 7 pm, Terry Appleby will explore two key historical figures who both speak deeply to the current moment – Toyohiko Kagawa and James Peter Warbasse – followed by a Q&A moderated by BFC Board President Jerelyn Wilson. This is a free event series, open to everyone.
Terry Appleby has been involved with the cooperative movement for more than 40 years, starting as a staff person for Puget Consumers Co-op in Seattle in 1980. He was the general manager of the Hanover Consumer Co-op from 1992 until he retired at the end of 2016. He is currently working on projects with Columinate, a cooperative consulting organization. He has a breadth of experience in management and board service at cooperative businesses. He was elected to the National Cooperative Hall of Fame in 2019. Read more about him here.
The event will also be followed up with a more informal in-person discussion on May 17th at 5pm with Jerelyn – more details TBD.
